News in brief(s): Thief clad only in underwear steals student's panties from KK hostel

KOTA KINABALU: City police have detained a man for stealing a student's panties from a college in Likas here.

It is believed the suspect ransacked the hostel where the 21-year-old woman stayed on Tuesday (Sept 3).

City OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda said the student returned to the hostel at about 11am that day to find the main door open.

“She then spotted an unknown man who was clad only in his underwear inside the hostel,” he said in a statement on Friday (Sept 6).

Following a report, he said, police managed to detain the 33-year-old suspect not far from the scene.

“We found women's undergarments in his bag," he added.

ACP Kasim said the case was being investigated under Sections 379 and 448 of the Penal Code for theft and house trespass respectively.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed in an accident that involved three other vehicles at Jalan Lintas near Iramanis here on Friday.

ACP Kasim said the victim, in his 20s, was heading to nearby Bukit Padang when his motorcycle grazed a car driven by a woman and crashed into the back of another car.

“The motorcyclist was then thrown off, straight onto the back of a third vehicle.

“The victim was confirmed to have died on the spot by a doctor from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital II,” he said.
