KUALA LUMPUR: An estimated RM1.6mil worth of ketamine and ecstasy were seized in a recent narcotics operation in the Klang Valley.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa revealed that the operation, which took place on Monday, led to the arrests of three suspects, aged between 23 and 30.
In the first raid in Cheras, police discovered 10.5kg of a substance believed to be ketamine on one of the suspects.
“Following their arrest, police were led to a residence in Cheras Perdana, Selangor, believed to be a storage site for the drugs.
“An additional 5.2kg of ecstasy and 4kg of ketamine were found inside the house,” Comm Rusdi told a press conference yesterday.
He said the group is believed to have obtained their supply overseas and used various houses to store the drugs before selling them in the Klang Valley.
Comm Rusdi noted that the group was active for about six months and paid RM2,000 to RM2,500 a month for their operations.
“Normally in cases like this, there are middlemen involved,” he said, adding that police could not reveal all information at the moment as more arrests might be made.
Two of the suspects also tested positive for ketamine and THC. All three suspects have been remanded for six days until Sept 9.Separately, Comm Rusdi said police personnel have been stationed at the Masjid India sinkhole area as repair work begins.
The police presence there, added Comm Rusdi, is intended as a precautionary measure and a visual reminder that repair work is underway.
