Heavy downpour triggers flooding in Baling, Sungai Sedim

ALOR SETAR: A heavy downpour on Saturday (Sept 7) evening has caused flooding in several hotspots in Baling.

Among the worst affected were Kampung Pisang, where several villagers were trapped due to rising floodwaters.

In its Facebook post, the Baling Civil Defence Force (APM) reported that it had carried out rescue operations by evacuating villagers to a safer area.

It also advised the public to be alert and not to be near flooded areas.

Meanwhile, a water surge occurred at Sungai Sedim waterfall, a recreational park near Kulim.

APM spokesman said the initial investigation found no victim nearby, and the situation was under control on Saturday (Sept 7).

Despite the strong current at the waterfall, no villages have been affected, and there have been no casualties.

The spokesman said the public should avoid visiting the waterfall until the weather improves.

"Please be extra careful during this weather," said the spokesman.
