Jealousy leads to attack on man in Taiping


TAIPING: A 29-year-old man was severely injured after being attacked with a machete by a 25-year-old man due to jealousy.

Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Nasir Ismail said the incident took place on Wednesday (Sept 4) at 7.20pm which led to the swift arrest of the suspect within 24 hours.

"The victim was attacked by the suspect, who is the husband of a woman who reported the crime.

"Acting on the information provided, the officers tracked down and arrested the suspect," he said in a statement on Saturay (Sept 7).

"The initial investigation revealed that jealousy was the primary motive behind the attack.

"The victim was rushed to the Taiping Hospital with serious injuries," he added.

He said that the case is currently being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which deals with voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with the authorities by providing information that can help maintain public safety.

"The police will continue to take proactive measures to ensure Taiping remains a secure and peaceful place for both residents and visitors," he said.
