Suspected robber shot dead at apartment

PUCHONG: An African man believed to be a member of a robbery gang was killed during a shootout with the police at an apartment in Puchong Jaya, Selangor.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the incident occurred at 10.50pm on Thursday, when police raided a unit at Menara KLH.

“The suspect was alone and refused to cooperate. He fired two shots at the police using a revolver, forcing them to return fire,” he told Bernama at the scene.

Police found machetes, a fake licence plate and a bag of counterfeit money at the apartment.

“The suspect’s age, nationality and other related documents are still under investigation,” he said.

According to Comm Mohd Shuhaily, the suspect was part of an African robbery gang of which a member was also killed in a shootout with the police recently.

The police are now intensifying efforts to track down the remaining gang members.
