Thief in briefs arrested after stealing panties

KOTA KINABALU: City police have detained a man for stealing panties belonging to a student at a college in Likas.

The suspect is believed to have ransacked the hostel where the 21-year-old is staying.

OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda said when the student returned to the hostel on Tuesday morning, she found the main door ajar.

“She spotted an unknown man, clad only in his underwear, in the hostel,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Following a report, police arrested a suspect, aged 33, not far from the scene.

“In his bag, we found women’s undergarments that he had stolen,” said ACP Kasim.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 and Section 448 of the Penal Code for theft and house trespassing.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed in an accident that involved three other vehicles in Jalan Lintas, near Iramanis, yesterday.

The victim, in his 20s, was heading to Bukit Padang when his motorcycle grazed a car driven by a woman, causing him to crash into the back of another car.

“The motorcyclist was thrown off the machine and landed on the back of a third vehicle,” ACP Kasim said.

“He died on the spot from serious injuries.”

This case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
