Mahkota polls: Father of BN candidate passes away

JOHOR BARU: The father of Barisan Nasional's would-be candidate for the Mahkota by-election has passed away.

It is understood that Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah's father breathed his last on Tuesday (Sept 10) evening after he was placed in an induced coma two days ago.

Johor Umno liaison committee posted a condolence message on Facebook.

"We regret to inform that the father of Syed Hussien has left us. Let us pray for him to rest in peace and may he be placed among the righteous.

"Condolences to Syed Hussien's family and may they be strong in facing this hardship," read the posting.

On Sept 8, Syed Hussien, who is Kluang Umno Youth chief, said his father was placed in an induced coma.

Just hours before sharing the news, he was named as Barisan's candidate for the upcoming Mahkota by-election on Sept 28.
