KLIA shooting case trial set on Dec 8 and 9

PETALING JAYA: The Sessions Court has fixed Dec 8 and 9 for trial in the case involving travel agency company manager Hafizul Hawari, who was involved in a shooting at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Hafizul, 38, was charged with attempted murder of his wife and causing injuries to her bodyguard in April.

Judge Zulkifli Abdullah set the dates during the proceedings at the Sessions Court in Kota Baru on Wednesday (Sept 11).

The court also requested the defence lawyers to send representations before beginning the trial.

Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Faiz Fitri Mohamad prosecuted while the accused was represented by lawyer Nik Mohd Faris Syazwan Zainuzzaman.

Earlier, DPP Ahmad Faiz told the court that the prosecution did not receive any instruction to transfer the case to Selangor, while Nik Mohd Faris made a request for a date for representation of the case.

The court then fixed Dec 8 and 9 for the trial.

On April 25, Hafizul pleaded not guilty to two charges for attempting to murder businesswoman Farah Md Isa, 38, and seriously injuring the bodyguard on the third level of KLIA at 1.09am on April 14.

The charges were under Sections 307 and 326 of the Penal Code.

The accused was also slapped with seven other charges, among them for possession of a gun, ammunition and firecrackers, three MyKad belonging to different individuals, and driving a car bearing a fake registration number near a private hospital at 2pm on April 15.
