Nearly 5,700 nabbed for drug offences in Negri from January to August

SEREMBAN: Police have detained 5,696 people for alleged involvement in drug-related activities in Negri Sembilan in the first eight months of this year, says Deputy Comm Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof.

The state police chief said police also seized assets worth some RM4.4mil belonging to the suspects.

"We will continue with enforcement to clip the wings of drug traffickers.

"We will also confiscate their assets to ensure they are not able to enjoy the proceeds from the illegal activities," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 11).

DCP Ahmad Dzaffir said police had also forfeited almost RM100,000 worth of assets belonging to those found guilty of drug-related offences.

These included 50 pieces of jewellery, four watches and seven vehicles, he added.

"It is my hope the public would continue to help us in our fight against the country's number one enemy by providing us with information on illicit drug activities," he said.
