5,696 held in Negri Sembilan drug bust


SEREMBAN: A total of 5,696 individuals have been detained for allegedly being involved in drug-related activities in the state in the first eight months of this year, says Deputy Comm Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof (pic).

The Negri Sembilan police chief said that during the period, assets worth some RM4.4mil belonging to the suspects were seized.

“The police will continue with enforcement to clip the wings of drug traffickers.

“We will also confiscate their assets to ensure they are not able to enjoy the proceeds from the illegal activities,” he said.

DCP Ahmad Dzaffir said police have also forfeited assets belonging to those found guilty of drug-related offences worth almost RM100,000.

These, he said, include 50 jewellery items, four watches and seven vehicles.

“It is my hope that the public will continue to help us in our fight against the country’s number one enemy by providing us with information related to illicit drug-related activities,” he said, adding that they can do so by calling 012-208 7222.
