Headmistress fined RM10,000 for fraud

IPOH: The headmistress of a primary school in Teluk Intan was fined RM10,000 in default of one month’s jail for using a fake document to buy equipment for her school in 2021.

The accused, Rosnah Mat Zain, pleaded guilty to an alternative charge under Section 471 of the Penal Code, which is punishable under Section 465 of the same Code, before Sessions Court judge Datuk Ibrahim Osman here yesterday.

According to the charge, Rosnah, 57, had on Dec 9, 2021, used an invoice from a company dated Dec 6 for the payment of a digital piano and bench worth a total of RM10,200.She allegedly did this knowing full well that the document was a fake.

After delivering the decision, Ibrahim said he hoped that the accused, as a civil servant, would be more careful and repent for her wrongdoing.

“This is only the law of this world.

“We do not know what will happen in the hereafter,” he said yesterday.

The prosecution was represented by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission public prosecutor Sharul Azuan Ghazali and Deputy Public Prosecutor Maziyah Mansor, while Rosnah was unrepresented.
