Firemen removing the tree trunk from the roof of the toilet.

KOTA KINABALU: A fallen tree damaged the roof of a toilet at a primary school in Sabah’s southwestern Kuala Penyu district on Thursday morning.

Kuala Penyu Fire and Rescue Department station chief Nelson Ponji said that, however, no one was hurt in the 8.40am incident at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Pengiran Jaya, in Pimping, Membakut.

On arriving at the scene, he said, the fire team assessed the situation before carrying out work to remove the trunk.

“We used special equipment to cut the log and subsequently transferred the pieces to a safe location,” he said, in a statement on Thursday (Sept 12).

The exercise ended at 9.50am after they ensured all safety issues were cleared, he added.
