IN a heartwarming turn of events, filmmaker and actor Syamsul Yusof has reconciled with his parents Datuk Yusof Haslam and Datin Patimah Ismail after years of estrangement.
News of the reunion was shared by Patimah in an Instagram Story post on Sept 11, where she uploaded an image of them.
In the post, Syamsul, who was clad in a black jacket and holding his five-year-old daughter, was seen hugging his parents.
Also seen in the picture was Syamsul’s ex-wife, actress Puteri Sarah Liyana.
Syamsul and Puteri Sarah also have a seven-year-old son, Syaikhul Islam.
It was reported that Syamsul was not speaking with his family following a marital conflict with Puteri Sarah which eventually resulted in a divorce on June 14, 2023.
The rift came after Syamsul and another woman Ira Kazar secretly married in Thailand in January last year.
On Sept 5, Syamsul and Ira divorced.
Harian Metro reported that Yusof said the reunion left a profound impact on both himself and his wife.
“We never hated our own flesh and blood; instead, we always included him in our prayers,” Yusof said, adding that Syamsul had called his mother last Monday, stating that he wanted to mend ties.
> A personal bodyguard who garnered fame for looking like a model thanked her lucky stars when recounting a harrowing motorcycle accident that nearly took her life.
“It feels like having a second chance at life. Reflecting on the severe injuries from the accident, it seems like a miracle to be breathing today,” Ameyza Yaacob was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.
The 40-year-old’s ordeal began on July 14 when her scooter collided with a sports utility vehicle (SUV) on the North-South Expressway near Sungkai, Perak.
“I was on my way from Cameron Highlands with friends and I couldn’t avoid the SUV that stopped on the emergency lane to change drivers.
“Thankfully, I wasn’t thrown into the middle of the highway, otherwise I would have been struck by other vehicles,” she said.
Ameyza suffered severe injuries such as punctured intestines, stage-five kidney laceration, lung damage, fractured legs and a shattered knee.
“I was closely monitored in the ICU and had to go through several surgeries. After 16 days, I was moved to a regular ward,” she said.
She had worked with the police for five years, where she had also served in the Special Actions Unit and was reportedly responsible for the security of many VVIPs.
Ameyza is currently undergoing rehabilitation and physiotherapy in her hometown of Kuala Krai in Kelantan.
She is determined to return as a bodyguard in Sarawak.
