PETALING JAYA: Dialogue with Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holding Sdn Bhd has been ongoing since 2019, says the Islamic Development Department (Jakim).
It said that since February 2019, it has organised 12 meetings, workshops, and national task force initiatives addressing issues linked to Global Ikhwan.
"The dialogues included representatives from the National Security Agency (MKN), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and the Home Ministry," the Jakim director-general's office said on Saturday (September 14).
It added that a private session with Global Ikhwan was conducted with representatives from the Muzakarah Committee chairman, the attorney general's office, Jakim's Akidah panel and Tasawuf experts in September 2019
During that meeting, the parties discussed various concerns related to Global Ikhwan in a dialogue to find a peaceful resolution.
"A special session with the Home Ministry and police convened in July 2022 to coordinate a response to the issues raised, which was followed by further talks in August 2022," Jakim added.
Jakim said the ongoing issue of deviationist teachings within the organisation was highlighted in a subsequent meeting on September 22 with Global Ikhwan.
It added that this led to additional discussions with the State Islamic Religious Council (Nadi Mais) and the Selangor Mufti Department.
Following several rounds of engagement, Jakim met with Global Ikhwan's CEO in Feb 2024 for an in-depth examination of the matters concerning creed (akidah), Shariah law, and Tasawuf within the group.
"The outcome of this research was presented at the Muzakarah Committee of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs (MKI) and the Cabinet meeting before seeking the agreement of the Rulers Conference for the issuance of a fatwa in accordance with state laws for enforcement," Jakim added
The department said that it has remained steadfast in pursuing dialogues, programmes, and research on issues related to the Islamic creed (akidah), without any compromise.
