Foreigner arrested in connection with rape, robbery of senior citizen in Cyberjaya


SEPANG: The 25-year-old foreigner who allegedly raped and robbed a senior citizen in Cyberjaya has been remanded until Friday (Sept 20).

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusuf said the suspect has been remanded for seven days.

"He was brought to the Sepang Magistrate's Court for the remand application. We will investigate the case further after the suspect has been remanded," he said when contacted on Saturday (Sept 14).

This comes after a female senior citizen was allegedly raped and robbed at an apartment in Cyberjaya.

ACP Wan Kamarul Azran had said the 71-year-old victim lodged a police report on the incident at about 12.18am on Friday (Sept 13).

"She claimed she was raped by a foreign man at the apartment's stairs The suspect attacked her while she was waiting for the elevator. He brought her to the stairs and raped her before stealing her purse and other belongings," he said.

Police managed to track down and arrested the 25-year-old suspect at about 12.20pm on Friday.

"He was arrested at a tower in Cyberjaya. We also recovered the stolen items," he said.

The case is classified under Section 376 and 392 of the Penal Code.

"We urge the public not to speculate on the case or share fake news," he said.
