KUCHING: The Customs Department seized 10 luxury vehicles worth RM8,129,825 from premises here on Sept 2.
Sarawak Customs director Norizan Yahya said in a statement on Saturday (Sept 14) that inspections revealed that the vehicles, suspected of breaching Section 65 of the Customs Act 1967, were imported without paying the duties and were stored in an unlicensed warehouse.
The case is being investigated under Section 138 of the Act in conjunction with Section 75(b). If convicted, the offenders could face a fine of up to RM50,000, imprisonment for up to five years, or both, he added.
