Bid to abduct girl thwarted


HULU SELANGOR: The public thwarted an attempted abduction after noticing a girl crying out for help here, say police.

Hulu Selangor deputy OCPD Dept Supt Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the victim’s mother lodged a report on Friday regarding the incident.

According to him, the mother told police that her nine-year-old daughter was almost kidnapped by an unknown woman as she was waiting for the school van in Bukit Beruntung.

“Investigations showed that the suspect, a local, had attempted to kidnap her but failed when the girl ran into a nearby shop while shouting for help.

“Those who were in the area assisted the girl while others attempted to detain the suspect.

“It is uncertain which area the suspect ran to,” he said yesterday, adding there was no CCTV in the area.

Checks on the girl showed that she was uninjured.
