No decision yet on postponing PKR polls till after GE16, says Fuziah

KUALA LUMPUR: The PKR central leadership council has not made any decision regarding the postponement of party polls until after the 16th General Election (GE16), says Fuziah Salleh

The newly appointed PKR secretary-general said the matter was discussed at the council meeting on Sunday (Sept 15) but no definitive decision was reached.

"The meeting felt that more engagement is needed at all levels of party leadership before any decision is made," she said in a statement Monday (Sept 16).

Fuziah, who is also the Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, made the remarks in reference to an online article quoting a source as saying that PKR had postponed party elections until after GE16.

According to Fuziah, she was contacted by the portal on Sunday and had denied that such a decision had been made.

On Sunday, PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad announced that Fuziah was appointed as the new secretary-general effective immediately, replacing Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Saifuddin Nasution has stepped down from the party post to focus on his roles as Pakatan Harapan secretary-general, PKR political bureau member and a member of the Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council. - Bernama
