Tun Juhar attends Malaysia Day 2024 celebration

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and his wife, Toh Puan Norlidah R.M Jasni, arrived at Padang Merdeka here tonight to attend the Malaysia Day 2024 celebration.

Juhar and his wife were greeted on arrival at 8.30pm by Malaysia Day 2024 Celebration Main Committee chairman Fahmi Fadzil, who is also the Communications Minister, and co-chairman Datuk Christina Liew, who is also the Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister.

This was followed by a rendition of the national anthem Negaraku and state anthem Sabah Tanah Airku, before the spectators were treated to a 'Tarian Sambut Tamu’ dance performance which showcased Malaysia's traditional and cultural diversity.

The Malaysia Day celebration pre-show, from 5pm to 7.30pm, was interspersed with artiste performances and the arrival of the guests.

Spectators began converging at Padang Merdeka as early as 5 pm for the celebration, themed 'Malaysia MADANI: Jiwa Merdeka’, and made it a lively occasion with rapturous applause. - Bernama
