KLUANG: A Perikatan Nasional MP has urged voters in the Mahkota constituency to back the coalition’s candidate Mohamad Haizan Jaafar to show their unhappiness with the economy.

“There must be a clear signal coming from the people about their unhappiness on how the government is managing our economy, which is affecting everyone,” said Padang Serai MP Datuk Azman Nasruddin.

He added that if the voters decide to vote in favour of Mohamad Haizan, there would be little impact on both the Johor government and the federal level.

“Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will still be the Prime Minister while the Johor Mentri Besar will still be Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi,” he said in his speech during Perikatan’s first ceramah held in Jalan Syed Abdul Hamid Sagaff here on Saturday night.

He also claimed that “goodies” will be given out whenever a by-election is being held, such as roads being paved.

“Recently, our opponent handed out rice bags to the people here, which is a ‘miracle’ because we cannot find local rice packets in the markets,” he said.

He added the issue of disruption to local rice supply has been ongoing for more than a year.

“Giving out goodies to the people when a by-election is being held is nothing new. It happened during the Nenggiri by-election last month and it is happening now in Mahkota,” he said.
