Mahkota polls: Humble Syed Hussien a true man of the people, says Dr Wee

KLUANG: The approachable and humble nature of Barisan Nasional's Mahkota by-election candidate Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah makes it easy for people here to get to know him, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Ayer Hitam MP said Syed Hussien can engage in meaningful conversation with people of any age group and from all walks of life.

“He is a humble and polite young man," the MCA president said when met while campaigning for Syed Hussien at an eatery here on Tuesday (Sept 17).

Syed Hussien’s experience as a councillor has also allowed him to form a good rapport with the people and understand issues that are important to them, he added.

"I noticed that he would bow down when talking to the people, which is not something you see in most new candidates.

“He knows how to get a conversation going and is responsive when he talks to people,” he said.

However, he noted that Syed Hussien is not taking the campaign lightly although he has received positive response since being nominated.

“He does not take things for granted and continues to work hard,” he said.

Syed Hussien is in a straight fight with Perikatan Nasional’s Mohamad Haizan Jaafar in the state seat by-election on Sept 28.

The seat became vacant following the death of Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, 63, on Aug 2.

The electoral roll for the by-election includes 66,318 voters, consisting of 61,397 ordinary voters, 401 police personnel, 4,510 military personnel and their spouses, and 10 absentee voters abroad.
