HE received an offer from someone who wanted to buy his newborn son, so he sold the baby for 100,000 rupees (RM5,000).

Malaysia Nanban reported that the father, known only as Shangkar, has since been arrested.

Shangkar, 30, and his wife had welcomed a baby boy about a month ago in Tamil Nadu, India.

He had often frequented a restaurant in Bodinayakanur town and befriended its owner, a man named Sivakumar.

When Sivakumar, 42, found out that Shangkar’s wife had given birth to a boy, he offered to buy the infant as he had no children of his own. The new father took the money and gave up his son.

A few days ago, police received reports about the transaction and began monitoring the parents’ calls. When they traced him talking to a man in Bodinayakanur frequently, they began investigating and found that Sivakumar and his wife had paid Shangkar for his baby boy.

Shangkar, Sivakumar and his wife were nabbed and charged.
