Muslims urged to continue forging unity

SEREMBAN: Muslims should continue to join hands to strengthen unity and brotherhood and promote mutual cooperation and respect with other races, says Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

The Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan said Malaysians must always be respectful and continue help one another.

“All Muslims, including leaders in the state, must continue working together to strengthen unity and ties and be equipped with the attitude of mutual help and respect of other races.

“When we extend our help to others, they will also assist us in return. Similarly, when we show respect to others, they too will respect us,” he said in his address at the state-level Maulidur Rasul celebrations here yesterday.

Tuanku Muhriz said Islam as the religion of the federation, as enshrined in the Federal Constitution, provides Muslims with the opportunity to demonstrate the religion’s greatness and purity to the non-Muslim community.

“This desire can be preceded by first appreciating the struggles of Prophet Muhammad in leading and uniting the various races.

“This realisation will surely awaken a sense of responsibility in all of us to jointly develop this blessed state into a just, peaceful, and prosperous state, and to continue to receive Allah’s blessings,” the Ruler said.

Tuanku Muhriz said the Maulidur Rasul celebration is organised as a form of respect and appreciation for the life, teachings, and leadership of Prophet Muhammad in spreading the message of Islam.

“Islam does not talk about the dimensions of the afterlife alone, but also discusses worldly matters which lead people to do good, thus making Islam a religion of mercy for all.

“Islam also emphasises on ad-Din, which places importance on unity and good relations between human beings,” he added.

Tuanku Muhriz said Prophet Muhammad was sent by Allah to build unity in a multiracial environment, by emphasising kind speech and setting an example in his every act.

The Prophet’s leadership qualities showed that he demonstrated priority to matters related to social justice, equality and moral integrity in society, said the Ruler.

In his address, Tuanku Muhriz also expressed regret and sadness on recent reports related to an organisation which hid behind the cover of an Islamic welfare body to allegedly abuse and exploit children under its care.

“This behaviour is contrary to the principles that Muslims should uphold.

“Muslims should exemplify true Islamic values in their daily lives, such as sincerity, honesty, trust, justice, unity, brotherhood, simplicity, and mutual respect,” he added.

In KUANTAN, the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, said upholding the sanctity of Islam is a collective responsibility, regardless of background, political affiliation, or status.

His Royal Highness said this responsibility should not be divided or fragmented based on political beliefs or ideological differences, and that Islam taught unity and cooperation for the common good.

“No matter the colour or logo of the flag, as Muslims, we must place religion as the foundation of life and not let political differences become the reason for weakening our unity. Remember, united we stand, divided we fall,” he said during the Pahang state-level Maulidur Rasul celebration here, reported Bernama.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Muslims should continue to refer to and make Prophet Muhammad, who is the greatest Murabbi (educator) of the ummah (community), as Uswatun Hasanah or the exemplary role model.

The Prime Minister said every Muslim should learn from the Prophet, not only in terms of his personality, but also his leadership, social participation and family, especially in the context of the Madinah nation model.

“Our aspirations for a Madani nation are also based on the lessons we learned from his wisdom and the Madinah Charter he mooted using the formula of diversity in the frame of unity based on justice and compassion,” he posted on Facebook yesterday.
