Ten ferry trips between Langkawi, Kuala Kedah cancelled due to high waves


ALOR SETAR: Ten ferry trips on the Langkawi-Kuala Kedah-Langkawi route have been cancelled on Tuesday (Sept 17) due to 5m high waves in the waters off Kuala Kedah, affecting almost 4,000 passengers.

In a statement, Konsortium Ferrylines Ventures Sdn Bhd general manager, Captain Dr Baharin Baharom, said the cancellations involved four ferries from Langkawi to Kuala Kedah carrying a total of 2,154 passengers, and six ferries from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi with 1,791 passengers.

He said the cancelled trips from Langkawi were scheduled at 10.30am, noon, 1pm, and 1.30pm, while from Kuala Kedah the trips were scheduled at 9.30am, 10.30am, 11.30am, noon, 1pm, and 1.30pm.

"Affected passengers can claim refunds or reschedule their trips with the ferry management company.

"Additional ferries are being provided at the Kuala Perlis Passenger Jetty Terminal, but these are subject to the terminal’s capacity and sea conditions,” he said. – Bernama
