IPOH: A runner for a loan shark has pleaded guilty at a magistrate’s court here to six counts of splashing red paint on six different houses.

Chee Wei Leong, 44, was charged in two different magistrate’s courts on Thursday (Sept 19).

In the first court, Chee pleaded guilty to two charges, separately under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief, before Magistrate S. Punitha.

For the first charge, on July 13 at 6.01am, Chee splashed red paint on the gate of a house in Kampung Baru Bukit Merah, Lahat. Magistrate Punitha fined him RM2,000 in default of four months’ jail.

For the second charge, on July 8 at 7am, Chee splashed paint at a house in Taman Utama, Bercham. The magistrate sentenced him to one year in jail.

The case was prosecuted by DPP Nurul Hidayu Zakaria, while Chee was represented by lawyer Nor Izawani Ahmad Jalaludin from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK).

Nor Izawani requested a lower bail, stating Chee was working part-time and earning RM400.

In a different magistrate’s court, Chee pleaded guilty to four separate charges of splashing red paint at different houses between June 3 and July 13.

However, Magistrate Noor Azreen Liana Mohd Darus, who was replacing another magistrate, set Oct 18 for sentencing.

She set bail at RM2,000 for each charge.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nuranisah Ismah Muhammad Husaini requested bail at RM5,000 for each charge.

Lawyer Ng Yun Khong from YBGK said Chee was married with two children and was looking after his elderly mother.
