No signs of graft, says MACC

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is not investigating Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB), says its chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

No elements of corruption had been uncovered on GISB, he said.

“We leave it to the police as there is no element of corruption.

“We are not involved nor are we investigating GISB for the time being,” he told reporters at MACC headquarters here yesterday.

Last Wednesday, police rescued 402 children – 201 boys and 201 girls, aged between one and 17 – from 20 care homes in Selangor and Negri Sembilan in a rescue operation codenamed Ops Global.

The operation was to facilitate the investigation of a company accused of exploiting children.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said investigations on the 20 care homes raided believed to be linked to GISB were still ongoing, despite a few already being charged.

“We are still in the midst of completing several investigations including a viral video which allegedly showed children at the care centres being abused,” he said when contacted yesterday.

The IGP said a total of 33 investigation papers had been opened and three of them had been referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers.
