Mahkota polls: New students allowed to delay university registration to cast their ballots

PETALING JAYA: The Higher Education Ministry will allow new students to register late at their respective public universities (UA) to vote in the Mahkota state by-election, says Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir (pic).

In a statement Friday (Sept 20), the Higher Education Minister said the students may complete their registration at their respective UA until Sunday (Sept 29).

“The Higher Education Ministry acknowledges that polling day for the Mahkota state by-election will take place on Sept 28.

“This decision was made following discussions between the Higher Education Ministry and 12 UAs as part of an effort to facilitate new students in fulfilling their responsibilities as voters,” he said

He also added that new students involved may directly contact the student affairs (HEP) department of their respective UA and inform them of their voter status in the Mahkota by-election.
