Several individuals detained and inspected in GISB commercial centre raid in Rawang

GOMBAK: More than 10 individuals, including women and children, were inspected following raids at Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) commercial centre in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang.

Once the operation ended on Saturday (Sept 21), the individuals, who were said to be between six and sixty years old, were transported to the Selangor police headquarters in six vans and three cars for documentation.

The operation, which started at 6:30 am, involved the Selangor police, the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU), the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais), and the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS).

Several shops, including a printing shop, a clinic, a hotel, a bakery, a workshop, a media centre and a restaurant believed to be linked to GISB were inspected.

The MPS also demolished several illegal structures and seized other premises, including an equestrian track.

On Thursday (Sept 19), 19 individuals, including the GISB chief executive officer, his wife and other family members, were detained by Bukit Aman CID at about 5.40am following raids on four residential units at Jalan Imbi.

The 12 men and seven women were remanded until Wednesday (Sept 25).

On Wednesday, police recorded the statements of 740 individuals as part of the investigation on GISB.

A total of 10 investigation papers have been opened, and police have frozen 96 bank accounts involving GISB with RM581,552 in funds.

On Sept 11, police rescued 402 children, comprising 201 boys and 201 girls, aged between one and 17, from the 20 care homes in Selangor and Negri Sembilan in a rescue operation codenamed Ops Global.

There were allegations that the children were abused, exploited and sexually assaulted.

A total of 171 suspects, aged between 17 and 64, were arrested, including a teacher and dorm caretakers.
