Woman who survived cliff fall welcomes baby boy

A WOMAN from China, who made global headlines after surviving a horrific incident in which her husband pushed her off a cliff in Thailand five years ago, has welcomed a baby boy.

Sin Chew Daily reported that the woman, using the alias Wang Nuannuan on social media, became pregnant through in vitro fertilisation.

“Thank you for coming into my world! You brought me completeness this Mid-Autumn Festival.

“I want to tell you that this world is beautiful, and I will be here with you for the rest of your life!” she said.

Wang said the moment she saw her baby’s face, all the hardships of the past five years melted away.

“I’m so glad I didn’t give up – on myself or on you,” she added.

In June 2019, Wang, who was pregnant at the time, plunged down a 34m-high cliff while holidaying at Pha Taem National Park.

She survived, but her three-month-old foetus did not.

Wang claimed that she was shoved by her husband, who was eventually sentenced to 33 years and four months in prison by a Thai court in June last year.

She reportedly said her ex-husband had taken out a life insurance policy on her and would be a major beneficiary in the event of her death.

In June last year, Wang moved to Hangzhou to work in social media.

When asked if she still hopes for love and marriage, she replied: “Love is all about fate.”

> China Press reported that Hong Kong-based Malaysian actress Fish Liew, 34, has shared that her back hurts a lot whenever she tries to sleep on her side.

She said the problem stemmed from her time living in a subdivided flat in Hong Kong, where she spent two years sleeping on a soft mattress. The uncomfortable sleeping posture led to consistent back pain.

Since then, Liew said she has made a habit of sleeping on her back instead.

Liew left Malaysia at the age of 22 to pursue her dreams in Hong Kong, where she started her career as a model.

In 2013, she got her big break with a role in the film The Doomsday Party, which earned her a Best New Performer nomination at the 33rd Hong Kong Film Awards. In 2022, she won Best Supporting Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards for her role in Anita.

This year, she was nominated again for Best Supporting Actress in the movie A Guilty Conscience.

Despite her current success, Liew’s journey in the entertainment industry has been long and challenging.
