SHAH ALAM: Youths in the country have been urged to seize the opportunity for cross-cultural exchanges and collaborations when Malaysia hosts the Asean Tourism Forum (ATF) next year.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing the forum would be a premier gathering for tourism professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders across Southeast Asia.
“By actively participating in the ATF and related activities, young people can contribute to the development of Asean’s tourism sector and foster stronger regional ties,” the minister's press secretary read from his speech during the 2024 Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians Award Ceremony on Saturday (Sept 21).
The ATF is to be hosted by Johor in 2025.
“Malaysia’s diversity is one of our greatest strengths; our arts and culture reflect that rich heritage.
"The government recognises the importance of supporting our youth, especially in the cultural and arts sectors, where their talent and creativity help preserve the identity of our nation while pushing the boundaries of innovation and expression,” he said.
He encouraged youth leadership in cultural advocacy, noting that many honourees at the event are pioneers in their respective fields.
“We believe that young Malaysians should take on leadership roles in cultural preservation and innovation, advocating for Malaysia’s rich heritage globally.
"We want more young leaders driving cultural diplomacy, promoting our arts abroad, and fostering appreciation for Malaysia’s heritage,” he added.
