Partial road closure in Brinchang due to landslide and uprooted trees


IPOH: A landslide, uprooted trees and fallen electric poles have caused part of the road to be closed near the Agro market in Brinchang, Cameron Highlands.

In the incident that occurred at about 11am yesterday at KM67 of Jalan Besar Brinchang, Cameron Highlands OCPD Deputy Supt Azri Ramli said that no one was hurt.

DSP Azri said it had been raining heavily with strong winds earlier in the morning before the incident occurred.

“The stretch had to be cordoned off due to the debris and fallen poles.

“However, after cleaning works, part of the road was accessible.

“A vehicle parked by the side of the road there was hit by a fallen pole,” he added.

Several photos and videos had gone viral showing uprooted trees and debris from the landslide.

Tanah Rata assemblyman Ho Chi Yang also highlighted the incident on his Facebook page.

Ho thanked the Cameron Highlands District and Land office, the Fire and Rescue Department, the police and other agencies for their prompt action to ensure the safety of residents and tourists.
