KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman estimates there are about 10,000 members in Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB), located both locally and abroad, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
"We estimate the number of members, including children, has reached 10,000.
"However, we have to investigate further to determine the exact number," the Inspector-General of Police said during a press conference at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) on Monday (Sept 23).
He said GISB members are believed to still practice "Aurad Muhammadiah" teachings, which was practiced by the Al-Arqam sect before it was declared deviant in 1994.
"We discovered various books and writings on Aurad Muhammadiyah during the raids on Saturday (Sept 21).
"However, I cannot comment further as this falls under the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and the National Council of Islamic Religious Affairs (MKI)," he said.
