A WOMAN in Taiwan was ordered to pay T$5,000 (RM655) in fines for throwing away her son’s comic books without his permission, Sin Chew Daily reported.

It all began in February when the son discovered that 32 volumes of his favourite Attack on Titan manga had been disposed of by his mother.

The son was so unhappy that he reported it to the police.

His mother apologised to him but he was adamant on pressing charges.

The case eventually went to court, with the judge ruling that the mother’s actions had violated provisions under Taiwan’s Domestic Violence Prevention Act.

The mother pleaded guilty but also maintained that the books were not of high value.

However, the judge went ahead with the fine and ordered her to complete five days of community service.

An anime series based on it ran for four seasons.

> It was a heartbreaking moment for a flight attendant when she discovered a passenger clutching onto a package that contained her daughter’s ashes.

Sin Chew Daily reported that the flight attendant noticed an elderly woman holding tightly to a package before the Toronto-Hong Kong flight took off.

She suggested the passenger place it in the overhead compartment or underneath her seat. The elderly woman refused to do so.

After some prodding, she said: “These are my daughter’s ashes.”

The flight attendant did not expect this and had to hold back her emotions.

“My heart skipped a beat (when she said that),” the flight attendant shared on social media.
