ACTRESS Rozita Che Wan has made it clear that women are far more than just caretakers of the home.

In challenging traditional expectations of women, the actress, better known as Che Ta, told Sinar Harian that their role goes beyond handling household chores like doing the dishes.

“She should be intelligent, able to recite the Quran and should never neglect her prayers.

“Most importantly, she must be smart at making money. Don’t just focus on looking good,” she said.

Che Ta said women should not be “stingy or lazy”.

“If you have the money, buy beauty products and be diligent. Then we’ll be beautiful.”

She also believed that the best time to bond with her family was at mealtimes.

“I always say this: at the dining table, there is always protocol. Don’t spill your food. Sit properly and don’t chew loudly.”

“This is because our behaviour begins at home. If we start well at home full of manners, we won’t act differently outside,” she said.

To create memories together, Che Ta said she would ensure that her dining table was properly decorated like those at hotels.

“Others may think this is troublesome but I love it,” she added.

Che Ta, 50, has been married to actor Zain Saidin, 40, since 2013.

> A fisherman in Jerantut was caught by surprise when he hauled an extraordinary catch weighing some 40kg at Sungai Tembeling, near Kampung Kuala Tahan, Kosmo! reported.

Mohd Ismaiza Abdullah Zawawi, 37, said this was his second big haul after catching a redtail catfish weighing 16kg at the same spot last week.

He said he was stunned to catch the helicopter catfish as it was quite hard to do so.

“I prayed that I would get a better opportunity. I am surprised at having caught it after fishing here for almost 20 years.”

Sharing his experience, Mohd Ismaiza said he saw a huge splash on the water’s surface and decided to go near it.

“It turned out to be worthwhile,” he added.

Mohd Ismaiza sold the fish for RM40 per kg and got about RM1,160 in total.

“This will be enough to cover my expenses for a month and to buy more fishing items,” he added.
