Elderly woman killed in lorry on lorry collision


IPOH: A 74-year-old woman died while her 43-year-old son sustained injuries after the lorry they were in collided with another lorry near Teluk Intan.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the incident happened at Jalan Sungkai Kg Air Hitam at about 4pm on Tuesday (Sept 24).

He said the deceased victim was identified as Yap Soh Choo.

“The victim’s son was driving the one-tonne lorry that hit the back of another lorry transporting sand.

“Both the mother and son were stuck in the vehicle.

“The man sustained light injuries, while the elderly woman was pronounced dead by the medical team at the scene,” he said.

He said the injured man was handed over to the health personnel, while the woman’s body was taken by the police for further action.
