PETALING JAYA: The Education Ministry will require additional time to assess the children of followers from Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) before they begin education classes in October.
Minister Fadhlina Sidek said that the evaluations will include checks on the children's backgrounds, social environments, and the education they have previously received.
"The ministry will determine if the children who have dropped out can return to mainstream schools with their peers or if alternative arrangements are needed," she said during a press conference in Tanjong Karang on Tuesday (Sept 24).
Fadhlina said that the assessment will consider various aspects, including Islamic religious education, literacy and numeracy skills, social development, overall academic performance and character.
In addition, the minister announced that the Education Ministry has issued guidelines regarding the recording and posting of students' photos on social media by educators.
"We have cautioned teachers to obtain parental permission before creating any social media content," she added. "I hope these guidelines are fully adhered to by all educators."
