Kedah flood victims drop to 6,439 on Tuesday


ALOR SETAR: The number of flood victims in Kedah housed in 32 temporary relief centres has decreased to 6,439 people from 2,062 families as of 4pm, down from 6,804 people from 2,173 families earlier in the morning.

According to disaster information from the Social Welfare Department, Kota Setar district continues to record the highest number of evacuees, with 4,549 people from 1,478 families sheltering in 19 relief centres since last Wednesday.

Pendang district follows with 1,606 victims from 490 families in 10 relief centres, while Kubang Pasu has 225 people from 70 families in two relief centres.

Pokok Sena district has 59 people from 24 families housed in one relief centre, where water levels have exceeded the danger mark of 22.14 meters. - Bernama
