SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government will give extra emphasis to bring growth to northern Selangor in its 2025 Budget, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Mentri Besar said the focus has been on other areas of Selangor in the past and it was now time to stoke growth in the North, especially in areas such as Sabak Bernam.

Earlier in the day at the 2025 Selangor Budget dialogue, Amirudin said focus would also be given towards strengthening sectors linked to artificial intelligence.

He also said the state Budget would be delayed till mid-November as opposed to earlier in the month as initially planned.

On another matter, Amirudin said he had had the weekly audience with Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in the afternoon.

He added that he had updated the Sultan on the current status of the Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) matter.

The Mentri Besar said Sultan Sharafuddin had already summoned the police, the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) over the GISB scandal.

According to Amirudin, it was not easy to obtain details regarding GISB's financial misdemeanours as they were registered as a business and not a society under the Registrar of Societies which were easier to monitor.

However, he added the state authorities will handle the matter strictly.

"They will not be allowed to get premises in the state to carry out activities that go against fatwa," said Amirudin.
