Dead suspect had attempted to ram into police and a civilian: Selangor police chief

GOMBAK: The suspect who was shot dead at Kampung Baru Kundang, Rawang, had reversed his vehicles into vehicles belonging to the police and a civilian.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said a task force from Petaling Jaya district police headquarters was tracking down a suspect at 1.15am Wednesday (Sept 25) responsible for breaking into a shop in Damansara earlier.

"The police team stumbled upon the suspect in a MPV at Kampung Baru Kundang.

"The suspect was told to stop his vehicle but refused to do so. Instead, he reversed his vehicle rapidly into a police car and a car parked nearby, endangering police personnel," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

This forced the police to open fire in self defence, forcing the suspect's vehicle to swerve at the side of the road, he said.

"We also seized several items from the suspect's vehicle, including three machetes, a cutter, an axe, and a steel rod.

"We are investigating the matter under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder," he said. ends
