IPOH: The business registration of companies associated with Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) will be revoked if the organisation is found to have breached the regulations set by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), says Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.
The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister said the cancellation of the registration of the GISB parent company and its subsidiaries will be implemented if it is found guilty of activities that goes against public interest.
“The ministry and SSM are working closely with the police in the ongoing investigation into GISB, especially in matters related to SSM regulations,” he said after attending the opening ceremony of SSM Perak Tower here yesterday.
The ceremony was graced by Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.
Armizan said the ministry is also working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) regarding GISB’s promotion of its products, including online marketing.
On Sept 20, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said MCMC has not received any complaint regarding the marketing activities of GISB on social media platforms.
He said the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry was the authority responsible for addressing issues related to marketing on social media.
In Tanjong Karang, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the process of evaluating the children rescued from premises linked to GISB in various aspects of education is expected to take some time.
She said the evaluation, conducted by MOE officials, is critical to determine whether the children would be placed in mainstream schools or provided with special modules to ensure no one falls behind.
She added that the assessment includes aspects such as their background, educational level, psychosocial factors and the 3M literacy skills (reading, counting and writing).
“We will look at various aspects, not only in terms of religious education but also from the academic perspective and their overall character,” she told reporters after the launching of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Hub for the Teacher Ambassador Programme hosted by Yayasan Petronas, here, reported Bernama.
On Monday, Fadhlina said MOE is assuming responsibility for the education of the over 300 children effective Oct 1, adding that the education programme will be carried out for two months and extended to the following month if necessary.
