Heavy rain and strong winds expected across Malaysia, MetMalaysia advises caution


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected across the country.

In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) at 1.20pm, bad weather is expected for the entire states of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Perlis, Johor and Labuan.

In Kedah, the areas affected are Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik and Baling, Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai), Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin), Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Rembau) and Sarawak (Sri Aman, Sibu, Matu, Dalat, Mukah, Song, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, Marudi and Limbang).

The interior areas of Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, and Beaufort, West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, and Tuaran) and Tawau (Lahad Datu) in Sabah are also affected.
