JB man drowns after falling into sea while fishing


JOHOR BARU: A 26-year-old man drowned after falling into the sea while fishing along Jalan Persiaran Tun Sri Lanang at Lot 1 Waterfront City here.

Larkin Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Shaifulizam Mohd said they received a distress call at 5.41am on Wednesday (Sept 25).

“The victim had fallen into 10m-deep water.

"One of our men used a rescue rope to recover the victim's body.

"The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical team," Shaifulizam said in a statement.

He added that the department has deployed 16 personnel along with a fire rescue tender (FRT) vehicle, an emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) van, and three rapid intervention motorcycle (RIM) units.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat confirmed that police had been notified about the incident, which was being investigated as a sudden death report.
