Sunken pavement on Gurney Drive being investigated, says assemblyman

GEORGE TOWN: The left rear axle of a lorry sank into the road pavement on Gurney Drive in yet another case that may be linked to a broken sewerage pipe

"It looks like it has partly sank and the authorities has been informed of the incident," said Pulau Tikus assemblyman Joshua Woo on Facebook Wednesday (Sept 25) morning.

"The Pulau Tikus service team were on the scene and the lorry has been towed away," he added, saying a partial section of the road was closed.

When asked if it was due to any overloading of the lorry or a sinkhole, he said the matter was still being investigated.

The lorry was lifted up by crane and removed after its cargo that resembled concrete bricks was unloaded at the scene. Ends.
