Discovery made during checks with LHDN, says IGP
KUALA LUMPUR: Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) has been found to have failed to pay taxes for its businesses, says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain (pic).
“This was discovered during checks by Bukit Aman with the Inland Revenue Board.
“We found that GISB has never paid any tax for their businesses in line with the investigation under the Income Tax Act 1967,” he said when contacted yesterday.
However, he did not give details on the period of unpaid taxes by GISB.
Separately, Razarudin said 34 individuals detained in connection with the ongoing investigation into GISB will be rearrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 or Sosma once their remand expires based on the statements gathered so far.
“A total of 127 others have been released on police bail upon the expiry of their remand orders,” he added.
He said 24 GISB members, including its top management, had their remand extended until this Sunday.
The extension is in connection with the investigation under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act.
Meanwhile, Razarudin said investigations revealed that the GISB chain of businesses were practising their own version of Aurad Muhammadiah.
“The belief of the businesses is based on their obsession and adulation of their leaders to the extent of twisting true Islamic teachings.
“This process is similar to indoctrination, where the belief is followed and practised wholeheartedly by the followers.
“Such a doctrine is dangerous to the nation’s security, especially in terms of Islamic teachings in the country and the welfare of the followers as they depend solely on their leaders,” he added.
The IGP said police also detected several postings on social media seeking donations on behalf of children of GISB members.
“The donations are supposedly to assist the children with various needs.
“We advise the public not to be fooled by such tactics as it is believed there are those trying to take advantage of the situation.”
“We advise those who have been released on bail to come forward if they need assistance in terms of their welfare,” he said.
