Immigration Dept busts begging ring

JOHOR BARU: The Immigration Department has busted a syndicate using disabled individuals to beg on the streets with the arrest of four Chinese nationals.

State department director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the four were aged between 36 and 67.

“It was found that they could earn up to RM10,000 a month,” he said.

“The foreign nationals are believed to have carried out their begging activities at various spots around the city, including at night markets.”
