Clear policies contribute to economic growth and strong ringgit, says PM

KLANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) has attributed Malaysia’s positive economic growth and the strengthening of the ringgit not only to political stability but also to the government’s clear and transparent policies.

“These include policies such as the Madani Economy, the National Energy Transition Roadmap, the Digital Transformation Plan and the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP), which have clear and transparent directions,” said Anwar during a groundbreaking ceremony at Westport 2 Malaysia in Klang on Friday (Sept 27).

Anwar also highlighted his recent attendance at an Amazon Web Services (AWS) appreciation dinner on Thursday (Sept 26), which he attended with Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

According to Anwar, the top management of AWS expressed confidence in Malaysia due to its stability and clear policies.

“Sometimes, a country may be stable, but if its policies are unclear, it will not attract investments,” he added.

Meanwhile, Anwar emphasised the need to expedite business approvals, advising civil servants to avoid using bureaucratic procedures as a justification for delays.

"Delays will cause the country to lag behind. I always stress that we are living in a post-normal time that is more complex and full of interdictions. It is chaotic and change is taking place simultaneously," Anwar said.

He urged all officers to recognise that they are not dealing with ordinary times, but rather with unprecedented challenges that require swift measures and decisions.

Additionally, Anwar highlighted the necessity of expanding West Ports Malaysia in Port Klang to alleviate congestion, stating, "This cannot be ignored."

He also underscored the importance of ensuring that companies look after the welfare of their workers. "When companies achieve success, we must also understand that the well-being of their workers is crucial to fostering compassionate values in development," he added.
