Malaysian Diaspora Programme to address identification issues in the US


PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian Diaspora Programme will be held to address identification issues faced by Malaysians residing in the United States.

The Consulate-General of Malaysia in New York announced the initiative on its official Facebook page.

“The Embassy of Malaysia in Washington D.C., together with the Consulates-General in Los Angeles and New York, are pleased to inform Malaysians residing in the United States and neighbouring countries that the Home Ministry, through the National Registration Department of Malaysia, will hold a Malaysian Diaspora Programme to resolve identification issues of Malaysian citizens in the United States and neighbouring countries,” the statement read.

The services provided will include changes and replacements of identification cards, as well as the extraction of birth, death and marriage registers, among others.

The programme will be held at the Consulate General of Malaysia in New York from Monday, 7 October, to Tuesday, 22 October, with operating hours from 8.45am to 5pm (Monday-Saturday).

Applicants who wish to receive services during the programme are required to make an appointment through the online system.
