IJM Land, in collaboration with Yayasan Feruni, successfully hosted the 'Adopt A Tree For Charity' initiative at IJM Rimbayu, Selangor.

SHAH ALAM: IJM Land, with the support of philanthropic organisation Yayasan Feruni, successfully organised the “Adopt A Tree For Charity” initiative at IJM Rimbayu, Selangor.

This thoroughly impactful project aims to plant 1,000 trees within the 2.55ha Linear Park vicinity, involving 110 proactive and helpful children from nine orphanages and homes supported by Yayasan Feruni.

In the future, Linear Park will be home to 2,000 trees across 35 different species of flora, creating a vibrant green space for the community.

The initiative goes beyond the tree planting exercise, combining environmental stewardship with a mission to raise vital funds for the children’s homes. It reflects a compassionate-led endeavour, ensuring their holistic well-being while nurturing a greener future.

This “Adopt A Tree For Charity” initiative reflects a lasting commitment by both stakeholders to both the environment and the community at large.

By encouraging the general public to adopt a tree for RM25, this project raises essential funds to support the infrastructure and miscellaneous needs of the respective children's homes.

These funds are critical in providing the children with the necessary resources to improve their living conditions while ensuring access to better care and opportunities for their eventual growth and development.

IJM Land senior general manager Datuk Chai Kian Soon shared the company’s role in the initiative. “It reflects our long-term vision of integrating sustainability to go along with a sense of belonging and community development.

“By involving children from local homes, we are instilling values of environmental responsibility that will carry forward into the future by sowing the seeds of awareness and genuine concern for the environment in the present.”

Chai’s profound statement underscores IJM Land’s commitment to sustainability. By developing Linear Park, IJM Land hopes to promote environmental responsibility among the younger generation, taking a key step toward inculcating a like-minded attitude towards caring for the environment that will be inherited by future generations.

Yayasan Feruni commissioner Roger Ong said, “This charity-based activity allows the children supported by the Yayasan Feruni to play an active role in both their own community and their homes.

“Through their participation, they gain a deeper understanding of environmental conservation and the importance of contributing to the greater good of the society in which they inhabit.

“As a result, the funds raised will directly benefit their homes, providing crucial resources and empowering the children to flourish on their own accord, while raising awareness about environmental issues among the younger generation.”

At the end of the day, the tree-planting event was a resounding success. The joyful camaraderie of the young participants was evident as they gained valuable insights into why tree planting contributes to the future viability of the ecosystem. They also engaged in fun-filled activities such as sand art, giant bubbles and park play, enjoying a day outdoors while fostering a sense of purpose and giving back to their own community.

Linear Park will become a defining feature of IJM Rimbayu’s green infrastructure. This thoughtfully designed park will offer a space for relaxation while playing a crucial role in supporting a sustainable ecosystem. With diverse plant species enhancing biodiversity, the park is expected to sequester 50 tonnes of carbon annually, significantly improving air quality.

The serene beauty of Linear Park is complemented by Anthea, the latest collection of superlink and semi-detached homes in IJM Rimbayu. Anthea’s design, inspired by the Greek symbol of flowering and growth, reflects the perfect harmony between nature and modern living. These exquisitely crafted homes offer residents a luxurious lifestyle in a green, sustainable environment, making Anthea a true reflection of its namesake inspiration and ethos.

“At IJM Rimbayu, spaces like Linear Park, The Arc and The Club are meant to be a continuous loop for outdoor activities, promoting a healthier, active lifestyle. By integrating nature, we’re fostering a deeper connection to sustainability while enhancing the overall quality of life for our residents,” added Chai.

Yayasan Feruni invites everyone to participate in this charitable cause, helping to create a greener future while supporting children in need.
