JB cops seeking witnesses to Jalan Ara snatch theft incident


JOHOR BARU: Police are seeking witnesses in their investigation into a snatch theft on Jalan Ara, Taman Desa Cemerlang.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the crime occurred at 7pm on Friday (Sept 27) involving a 58-year-old woman.

"The victim was walking alone when a van approached her from behind. Two men exited the vehicle and snatched her mobile phone," he said in a statement on Saturday (Sept 28).

Supt Sohaimi added that the victim did not sustain any serious injuries.

"The van had a fake number plate and the victim suffered a loss of RM500," he said, urging anyone with information to contact the Seri Alam police at 07-386 4222.

The case is being investigated under Section 382 of the Penal Code for theft.
