The SMCV team, together with consultants and patients, celebrated SMCV's Hi-5 for Health to mark its fifth anniversary, commemorating this memorable milestone with the Malaysian and international patients it has served over the years.

KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Medical Centre Velocity (SMCV) marked its fifth anniversary with a three-day “Hi-5 for Health” festivities from Sept 19, commemorating this milestone with the Malaysian and international patients it has served over the years.

The celebration officially kicked off on Sept 20 with an opening ceremony attended by the SMCV management team, patients and media representatives.

In her address, SMCV chief executive officer Susan Cheow said, "We are immensely thankful to our patients, both local and international, our partners and the Malaysian community for their continued trust and support over the years. Our mission to provide quality healthcare remains steadfast and we are dedicated to this purpose for many years ahead.”

Cheow also highlighted the recent milestone of opening the hospital’s new building (Tower A) earlier this year and the hospital’s commitment to embracing new innovations and technological trends, expanding services and delivering exceptional care.

She added, “Our fifth anniversary is a celebration of our patients and community. Their trust motivates us in everything we do. Most importantly, we are dedicated to being a place where our patients feel supported, cared for and valued.”

Following her heartfelt speech, is a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony that is uniquely baked by one of SMCV's own patients, adding a personal touch to the celebration, highlighting the strong bond between SMCV and the community it serves.

Throughout the three-day event, both children and adults were engaged in a variety of activities designed to promote health and wellness. Children engaged in activities such as hand hygiene activity, face painting, kiddy animal rides and free flow of popcorn and many more. While adults had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of surgery through an innovative VR experience, allowing them to step into the shoes of a surgeon and gain insight in the surgical field.

Additionally, attendees explored a range of health and wellness pop-up booths, featuring products and services from esteemed partners such as Sunway Sanctuary, Claire Organics, Farm Fresh, Yakult, Partylicious, So Pilates, Honey Hearts, Kintry, Mommama, Hapifam, Baba Beng, and Kayla Bakehouse. These booths offered a diverse array of health and wellness options, encouraging a holistic approach to well-being.

In conjunction with its fifth year anniversary, SMCV introduced attractive promotions and discounts up to 20% for its health screening packages and other health and wellness packages. These special offerings are part of its commitment to support the health and well-being of the community.

As SMCV reflects on its journey over the past five years, the "Hi-5 for Health" theme resonates with many memorable moments, including the delivery of its first baby in 2019. While the baby, affectionately named "Velo," now resides overseas, this story remains a cherished part of SMCV’s history, symbolising the many lives the hospital has touched.
